Environmental Applications

Environmental concerns such as lake level equalizer drain pipes through earth dams are readily solved with the Poly-Triplex Liner System. Vertical and horizontal pipes can be converted to a monolithic liner throughout the drainage system. Often these structures are made with corrugated metal pipes or concrete. Among others, environmentally sensitive locations like Yellowstone National Park structures or pump stations 700 feet underground at Carlsbad Caverns have been lined and preserved with Poly-Triplex Liners.

The problems of exfiltration are readily solved with the Poly-Triplex Liner System. The system works equally as well for ex-filtration as it works for infiltration. The liner provides a non-porous composite that is bonded to the walls of the host structure. The following are examples of environmental problems solved with the Poly-Triplex system.

Lake Equalizer Manhole Rehabilitation - GA Dept. of Natural Resources
Environmental Problem: Manhole structure is located approximately 18 feet inside the lake in Tifton, GA with problems of deterioration and infiltration. Infiltration was impossible to stop with cement or chemical grout.
Solution: Working from a barge the Poly-Triplex Liner was installed. The liner was inflated with air pressure sufficient to hold back the hydrostatic head pressure until the liner was cured-in-place and bonded to the host structure. Installation was complete, start to finish, in one day. The Poly-Triplex Liner completely stopped the infiltration and ex-filtration as well as further deterioration from sewer gases.

Dogwood Lakes - Holmes County, FL
Environmental Problem: Tens of thousands of gallons of water, per day was infiltrating into the structure primarily from the bottom of the lake. The infiltrating water was boiling in through the bottom and was being discharged into a ravine at the end of the storm drain pipe, steadily reducing the level of the lake.
Solution: The Poly-Triplex Liner System was chosen to structurally line the entire manhole structure. The liner was made considerable thicker in the bottom and floor section of the structure. Once installed, the liner is bonded to the host structure and has stopped all infiltration of lake water coming from that area. The company provided the City of Bonifay with a 10-year non-prorated warranty to stop the infiltration.
